Bohin Stork Scissors boxed set.

It has taken me nearly 6 months, a lot of emails, a couple of tantrums and a few choice words I am reliably informed that nice ladies who do needlework really shouldn’t say.  Won’t repeat what I said to that person!

We finally have these great scissors back in stock again thanks to a very helpful sales and marketing manager from Bohin.  I am still loading our needles but have all the scissors online and in store right now.  YAY! How nice is the boxed set above?

Expanded Roseworks Range

Check out the new additions to our Roseworks Embroidery Designs selection.  Woodland Friends and Kismet have been part of Colleen’s range for some time but they have just joined ours.

Woodland Friends is a delightful companion piece to Forest Floor and her 2010 offering Terry Toad and Reggie Rat go Fishing.

Kismet is a lovely companion piece to Golden Persian Flower.  Roseworks Embroidery Designs have been a welcome addition to our Embroidery room and customers love them as much as we do.  All of these designs and many more are available online and in store now.

Classes are back!

Feedback from customers has been crucial to the planning and layout of our timetable.  What we have been asked for, is more help with basics.  We have also had requests for more frequent classes with less structure.

A 3 hour class is a reasonable, fun activity for one afternoon.  A series of afternoons or whole days can be difficult to commit to with busy lifestyles.  Hopefully this will help all of you who just need a nudge in the right stitching direction.  While priority will certainly be given to participants who have paid or booked in advance, we are more than happy for people to phone us or show up on the day if we are not fully booked.

Why not have a girlie day and get the girls together for a private class?  In which case, the date will be removed from the drop down menu availability and we will not accept more bookings or drop ins.

From June the timetable will run as follows

• First Saturday of the month  Knitting and Crochet
• Second Saturday of the month  Embroidery and Crewel
• Third Saturday of the month  Cross Stitch
• Fourth Saturday of the month   Tapestry and Needlepoint

if there is a Fifth Saturday in the month there will be a special interest class available

• Saturday 29th October  Bargello

I discovered our latest Hall of Famer in store last month.  She came in and bought 25 Stewart Merrett Australian Animal and Bird kits.  Me, being the big sticky beak that I am, wanted to know what she was going to do with them all, thinking gifts for friends abroad, Christmas gifts for relatives, she is a teacher planning a craft class, …. blah blah blah.

None of it.  She is going to stitch them all and then commandeer her sister to put them all together as a quilt.

I mused that it would be a cold day in hell before either of my sisters did anything like this for me, (the Novocastrian doesn’t sew at all but the Brisbanite is a pretty good knitter, and  is currently having to revisit all the crafty skills we learnt from Mum with an 8-year-old burgeoning Martha Stewart in the house.  She wanted to do some craft with a dead rat that was found in the ceiling! My neice, not my sister … story for another day).

Back to Vicki and her quilt, this cross stitching/quilting pair have already collaborated on this scale before, with spectacular results.  Vicki told me about the quilt they have already completed using the Stewart Merrett Australian Flora.  I asked her to send me some photos, I was so impressed I suggested she email Stewart.  Thought you all would love to see them too, and have entered her into our stitching Hall of Fame.
