Introducing Albert, our newest Hall of Famer

Author Dionne    Category Feel good stuff     Tags

This week Albert sent me this photograph.  He has been buying his threads online from us for the last 6 months since discovering our website.  This is worked in needlepoint on canvas with DMC Tapestry wool and some detailing with DMC Stranded Cotton.

Nice work Albert

He told me when he first became our customer, he thought he had finished these stockings as all his grandchildren were growing up.  However he has pulled out the canvas, needle and threads again for his great grandchildren.  We don’t discuss age at Victoria House Needlecraft but the fact that Albert is stitching for his great grandchildren suggests you are definately never to old to learn about computers, … Mum I am talking to you!

When I asked Albert for a little more information about the piece:  Is it an original design?  Where does he get his ideas? He told me

“I have a base stocking that I have used from the beginning.  In the beginning I used designs from pattern books.

Then I ran out of designs so put together Christmas motives from wherever to make each stocking of which this is the 21st.”"

Thanks for sharing Albert, nice work.  I really like the crisp colours in this design.

Cottage Garden Threads …. utterly yummy!

Forget Me Not in 6 strand cotton, Perle 8, Perle 12 and light and dark versions in 2ply wool.

It has only taken me a month, but I finally have loaded our stunning new range of Australian threads.  Cottage Garden Threads are produced by Pam Spurway in rural Victoria and are even more beautiful than the pictures on my website or theirs.

... Or how about Lyrebird Walk

There are 150 beautiful colours in 12 families, Pam likes to varigate colour every 2 to 3 inches to give greater colour variation for embroidery threads in smaller areas of stitching.  This glorious range of colour is available as 10m of 6 strand cotton in pre-cut lengths and 15m of continuous thread in both Perle 8 and Perle 12.  They even have a great YouTube video, also featured on Facebook to show how to release the threads and individual strands from the stranded cotton.

But wait, … there is more!  They have also released the 50 most popular colours in their 2ply Little Cottage Wool range.  There is a light and a dark version of each, giving 100 colours in all.

and I thought I'd just put Canna lily in because I could.

We are really excited about this range and fact that it is home grown just makes it even better.  They are available online and in store now and if you think they are gorgeous here, you won’t believe what they look like in real life.

All Anchor Stranded Cotton currently in store reduced to 91 cents until gone

Anchor Tapisserie Wool is reduced from $1.50 to $1.05 per skein.

All Anchor Tapisserie wool reduced to $1.05 until sold out.

DMC Perle 3 now in stock

Author Dionne    Category What's New     Tags

After years of plotting and planning and referring our Perle 3 fans to other businesses, I have finally put on the big girl pants and bought the entire range of DMC Perle 3.

It was a big month.  I also invested in the DMC Satin Floss, the Gumnut Daisies 1ply wool, … and

… wait for it …

the entire range of Cottage Garden threads, including their lovely 2ply wool.  Now I am dealing with some very large invoices and I think I need a big drink!  And Kerry is a bit worried I may have lost the plot.

I have managed to load the DMC Perle 3 and Satin Floss online as well as a rudimentary listing for the Gumnut Daisies.  Cottage Garden threads have eluded me so far, I think I will have to do quite a bit of photography and photoshop.  Wish me luck.  I will keep you all posted here and on Facebook.

In the meantime, some of the more eagle eyed of you have already spotted the Perle 3 as we have already had online orders and it has only been up a week.
