About us
Victoria House Needlecraft has been a family owned business for 35 years. In January 2009, Dionne and Craig had a 5 week old baby. Dionne didn’t think she had enough to do with her time, so they bought the business.
Dionne learnt to sew under her mother’s feet with a darner the size of a crowbar at the age of two, mostly to keep her out of mischief on rainy days. Currently she is occupied with being a mum, spending more time in the shop, building this website, designing originals for Victoria House Needlecraft, Beth Russell’s “Compton” rug and “The Deer” in “The Greenery” series. Unfortunately Stoney Creek’s “Noah’s Sub” has had to be outsourced to Margaret. At least her nephew will now get it before he gets his drivers licence .
Craig is the keen gardener who has worked hard to improve the gardens at Victoria House, he has also done some painting on the inside which he is not so keen on.
Our staff, Kerry, Wendy and Vicki have been with the business for over four years and provide expert advice and service to all our customers whether they walk in the door, email or phone from all over Australia and the world.
Kerry is a prolific and expert knitter, she is currently working on Beth Russell’s “Lodden I” and cardigan for herself in Araucania Tocanao in the green, blue multi colour.
Wendy has stitched some of our cross-stitch models, does exquisite hardanger work and teaches needlecraft in Wollongong.
Vicki is a keen knitter, does amazing stumpwork and has just begun the new “Quaker Diamonds” from Rosewood Manor. We have converted the Valdani Heritage threads to DMC, The Gentle Arts and Au Ver a Soie Soie D’Alger, this is available as a free download.
Margaret has stitched many of the beautiful cross stitch models that adorn our walls. She does not work in the shop or live locally.
We have a dedicated Christmas area, filled with stockings, ornaments, charts and pictures in cross stitch, crewel or needlepoint.
This year we will be starting classes again, our first will be the UFO (Unfinished Objects). We plan to follow it with more, please fill out our feedback form on the Contact Us page so we can focus on what you really want to do and learn.
