Good things come to those who wait …
About this time last year, I informed you all that Jo Sharp books Knit Issue 3: A Winter of Luxury Knits and Knit Issue 6: A Winter of Poetry were out of print and we had run out of stock. I also informed you that we would be offering, with Jo’s kind permission, free downloadable patterns from these books to customers who purchase the yarn to complete the projects.
The wait is finally over. The patterns listed are all that have been made available to us from these 2 lovely books. What is great, is that there is a good cross section of garment and accessory patterns for men and women, designed for beginners to advanced knitters.
I have to say it did take me some time to figure out how best present the products to give online purchasers the information needed to purchase the correct amount without compromising the conditional nature of the generous pattern give away from Jo Sharp. Then a bit more time to get it done. So, if you simply have to have one of these lovely garments, and you missed out on your very own copy of Knit Issue 3 or Knit Issue 6, we can help.
All you need to do, is select your desired garment and click on the links to determine the yarn and quantity you need to purchase to complete the garment. We have included sizing information to ensure you get the fit you want. Links are also provided to purchase needles and stitch holders if you need those too. Remember to add the pattern to your cart before you head through the checkout.
Knit Issue 3: Striped Scarf requires Jo Sharp Alpaca Silk Lustre, Jo Sharp Silkroad DK Tweed and Jo Sharp Rare Comfort Kid Mohair.
The Knit Issue 3: Cable and Ribbed Vest and Knit Issue 3: Stockings are both completed in Jo Sharp Alpaca Silk Georgette.
Knit Issue 3: ZigZag Vest and Knit Issue 6: Cable Shawl are both completed in Jo Sharp Classic DK Wool.
Knit Issue 3:Wrap Jacket is completed in Jo Sharp Rare Comfort Kid Mohair, and Knit Issue 6: Garter Stitch Scarf is completed in Jo Sharp Rare Comfort Infusion Kid Mohair. These are now under the same listing, the Infusion colours are those with the colour variation. There is no difference to their tension and application.
Knit Issue 6: Garter Stitch Jacket and Knit Issue 6: V Neck Sweater are both patterns for Jo Sharp Silkroad Aran Tweed.
Knit Issue 3: Wide Collar Vest also has a Cropped Cardigan variation both are stitched in Jo Sharp Silkroad DK Tweed.
Due to the conditional nature of Jo Sharp’s offer, these patterns are available only to customers who purchase the wool to complete the project. Exchange of yarn is available where there is a fault in your product, returns are not possible under the terms of Jo Sharp’s free pattern offer due to potential for copyright infringement.
OMG! More Free Stuff!
Ok, lets get the bad news out of the way first. We have just sold our last available copies of Jo Sharp Knit 3 and Jo Sharp Knit 6. This is bad because they are currently out of print and we are unable to get any more for the time being. These 2 great pattern books have consistantly been amongst the top 10 best sellers at Victoria House Needlecraft since they became available.
And now for the good news! All is not lost, Jo Sharp has given us the pdf files for these patterns and permission to give them to customers free of charge with the Jo Sharp yarn purchase to make the garment. We will be adding the garment pictures and quantities required to our site over the coming weeks. Your pattern will be sent out with your yarn purchase, … or you can come into the store and check out our store copies of these books and take your Jo Sharp yarn and pattern home with you.
Gem Show#3: Courtney Collection
Were you a little startled at the vibrance of colours when you picked the threads for this one? We were.
We love the colours in the picture of the design on the front, but the Needlepoint threads are a lot brighter than the photo shows. We have visually matched the threads to some alturnatives if you are looking for that lovely pink-almost-sepia finish on front cover of the chart.
Gem Show #3 is another beautiful design from Courtney Collection, we are stitching a model for the shop we love it so much.
Rosewood Manor Quaker Diamonds Thread Conversion Chart
We stock a lot of complete ranges of thread at Victoria House Needlecraft, but we can’t possibly stock every range available. When Karen Kubla’s Quaker Diamonds turned up in store, action was needed to ensure customers could complete the breathtaking work. We have converted the Valdani 3 strand Vintage Colorways thread to DMC stranded cotton, The Gentle Art hand over-dyed thread and Au Ver a Soie Soie D’Alger.
Vicki is currently working on the design in The Gentle Art and is loving it. It is looking beautiful and I have extracted her promise that I can photograph it and display it on the website when she finishes. Click on this link and download the free conversion chart today.
