Connecting through Creative Textiles
With the aim of providing learning and networking opportunities through meetings, seminars and workshops, this organisation connects textile artists, practitioners and interested people in Macarthur and surrounding areas.
Macarthur Textile Network’s 2012 exhibition is Friday 18th and Saturday 19th of May from 10 am to 4 pm both days at the Camden Civic Centre. So you have plenty of notice and time to put together your own submission. 2o12′s Challenge Topic is Elements.

Our new framer is having her own exhibition
We are always looking for new framers as our customers come from a large geographic area. Up until now we only had them on the coast side of the Highlands. Through our customers we heard about Arthead in Goulburn, just as I was planning when I could fit in a trip down the highway with the munchkin supervised by Grandma, Arthead opened up a new shop front in Moss Vale. Yay!
We have had a number of models stitched there in the last 3 months and Sonja and her team provide a consistently excellent finish to our models. It is great that there is someone just down the road. Sonja and her husband are also having their own exhibition this weekend so you can see what they get up to when not busy working at their 2 stores.
Bowral and District Art Society are hosting an exhibition of Bob and Sonja Mills works this week from the 7th to the 11th of July, so it is worth going along this weekend, before you miss out.
New Bundanoon Knitting and Crochet group
Looking to hang out with other Ravelers and don’t know where to find them in the Southern Highlands.
How about a new weekly get together venue and time for knitters and crocheters in Bundanoon? Organised by Barbara-Louise, this group are meeting on Thursdays from 1pm to 3pm at Ye Olde Bicycle Shoppe in Bundanoon in the beautiful Southern Highlands of NSW.
Their first scheduled meeting is the 23rd of June.
Classes are back!
Feedback from customers has been crucial to the planning and layout of our timetable. What we have been asked for, is more help with basics. We have also had requests for more frequent classes with less structure.
A 3 hour class is a reasonable, fun activity for one afternoon. A series of afternoons or whole days can be difficult to commit to with busy lifestyles. Hopefully this will help all of you who just need a nudge in the right stitching direction. While priority will certainly be given to participants who have paid or booked in advance, we are more than happy for people to phone us or show up on the day if we are not fully booked.
Why not have a girlie day and get the girls together for a private class? In which case, the date will be removed from the drop down menu availability and we will not accept more bookings or drop ins.
From June the timetable will run as follows
- First Saturday of the month Knitting and Crochet
- Second Saturday of the month Embroidery and Crewel
- Third Saturday of the month Cross Stitch
- Fourth Saturday of the month Tapestry and Needlepoint
if there is a Fifth Saturday in the month there will be a special interest class available
- Saturday 29th October Bargello
Stuck for something fun to do on a Saturday?
Join us from 1.30pm to 4.30pm and start a new hobby, develop your skills, indulge a passion and make something beautiful.
