Victoria House Needlecraft has been a family owned business for over 40 years. There have been two ownership changes in that time. In January 2009, Dionne and Craig decided they could juggle a 5 week old baby and a 7 day a week business, … how hard could it be … ?
Dionne learnt to sew under her mother’s feet with a darner the size of a crowbar at the age of two, mostly to keep her out of mischief on rainy days on a large sheep and cattle station in remote, rural Tasmania. Currently she is occupied with being a mum, spending more time in the shop, maintaining this website, building a new mobile friendly one, (thanks Google, like I had nothing else to do!) designing originals for Victoria House Needlecraft, Beth Russell’s “Compton” rug and “The Deer” in “The Greenery” series, the Cottage Garden Threads Progressive Sampler and (because I love them), … the Birds of a Feather stunning seasons designs in cross stitch.
Craig is the keen gardener who has worked hard to improve the gardens at Victoria House, he has also done some painting on the inside which he is not so keen on.
We are so lucky to still have Kerry, our Retail Manager who has been with Victoria House Needlecraft for over 10 years now and provides exemplary service to all our customers whether they walk in the door, email or phone from all over Australia and the world.
Kerry is a fab Grandma, prolific and expert knitter, and she has just finished working on the SEG de Paris Klimt printed canvases, Les jeunes filles and Le Serpent. You can check them out on our Facebook page, they look fabulous in the DMC Perle 3 and Perle 5 for the detail in petit point.
Margaret has stitched many of the beautiful cross stitch and embroidery models that adorn our walls. She does not live locally or work in the shop.
We are in the process of making some exciting cosmetic changes to Victoria House Needlecraft, you can keep up with our progress on our blog or Facebook page.
We have a dedicated Christmas area, filled with stockings, ornaments, charts and pictures in cross stitch, crewel or needlepoint. We also have a great selection of Australiana, Australian designs and Australian designers available, if you know some we don’t have and think we should send us some information.
